Karoo Cottage is a renovated establishment tucked beneath a giant pine tree in the heart of Loxton.
It offers total privacy and peace-of-mind in a secure environment.
Karoo Cottage is conveniently situated en route to Namaqualand, the West Coast, and the Cape from the larger inland centres. Loxton offers a pollution-and-stress-free environment, where there's little else to do but catch up on your reading, birding, and stargazing. Energetic souls can head into the surrounding countryside to hike, mountain bike, or explore the famous Karoo koppies (hills), and a perfect way to spend an afternoon is supine beneath a wind pump, watching snowy jet trails criss-cross the deep blue sky above.
As Loxton is somewhat isolated in terms of accessibility to shops, we request that all meals are arranged in advance. If you're self-catering, bring your food along. The village's tiny shops sell only the barest essentials and are closed from 13h00 Saturday until 08h30 Monday.
Karoo Cottage is fully equipped for self-catering, or meals can be pre-arranged
with guests welcomed on a B&B or DBB basis as well.
It consists of one large room that leads into a separate bathroom (shower) and
In winter, the beds (one double, one single)
are fitted with electric blankets, and along with heaters and down duvets,
ensure our guests are kept snug. In summer, fans and an old-fashioned mosquito
screen-door allow cooling breezes to circulate.
Guests have their own braai
area, and braai packs, wood etc can be arranged. The premises offer secure
parking beneath a shade-net carport
alongside the cottage.
